Acrylic, texture, oil pastel, rice paper and ink materials on canvas
This piece started with color inspiration from Yayoi Kusama—
but as I painted, I kept wondering, “Does this still count as part of the Balcony Series?”
Then I looked out at my actual balcony:
Birds flying by, snails crawling through, even the occasional caterpillar showing up.
So this painting simply became what was already happening outside.
